The Director

SULSA’s Director and chief advocate is Professor Mike Tyers, SULSA Research Professor and CH Waddington Chair in Systems Biology at The University Edinburgh. He is an internationally-recognised leader on the pathways and networks that control cell communication and cell division and his research interests span the cell, systems and translational biology themes of SULSA.
Mike was recruited to Scotland by SULSA in 2007. He was previously
a Senior Investigator at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada, and a Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Toronto.
As Director, Mike has overall responsibility for the strategy,
management and promotion of SULSA. He chairs the Executive Committee, liaises with the International Advisory Board, and acts as a point of contact for the three theme directors. He directs SULSA activity in graduate education and knowledge exchange, and plays a leading role in developing future pooling themes with the Scottish research community.
