SULSA Student Eduard Kerkhoven publishes on the metabolism of Trypanosoma brucei
SULSA Student Eduard Kerkhoven has published along with SULSA Professor Rainer Breitling (University of Glasgow) and other authors.
Their paper, "Dynamic Modelling under Uncertainty: The Case of Trypanosoma brucei Energy Metabolism" in PLoS Computational Biology examines the effects of uncertain parameters in a metabolmic study.
After gathering data about confidence intervals and experimental sources, they calculated a range of probability distributions for metabolic parameters, representing the uncertainty of the parameter values.
Their work reveals that some parameters in a metabolic model are robust to uncertainties, whilst other values are very fragile and can affect the metabolic outcomes.
