Professor Tibor Harkany

Tibor Harkany’s group studies the developmental organization and functions of the endocannabinoid system using a combination of molecular genetics, neuroimaging, neuroanatomy and electrophysiology approaches. His group
are also investigating the neuronal basis of cannabis-induced developmental deficits in the central nervous system, and the effects of endocannabinoid signaling in
aging and Alzheimer’s disease. Tibor received his PhD from the Semmelweis Medical School in Hungary. Before coming
to Aberdeen, his lab was based at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He also holds a Sixth Century Chair in Cell Biology at the University of Aberdeen and recently received an EMBO Young Investigator award.
