Dr Ramon Grima

Ramon Grima is a bio-physicist based at t he Centre for Systems Biology at Edinburgh. His expertise is in the construction and analysis of multi-scale, stochastic models of biological systems. He has used this approach to study a variety of biological processes, at the molecular, cell and multi-cellular levels, including chemotaxis; the effects of macromolecular crowding on reaction kinetics inside cells; and somitogenesis. He is currently investigating the combined effects of intrinsic noise and intracellular geometry on various intracellular reaction networks including those at the heart of algal and plant circadian clocks. Ramon received his PhD in physics from Arizona State University (USA) and was at Imperial College, London, before moving to Edinburgh in 2008.
