Introductory Course on Electron Microscopy of Biological Complexes

The Electron Cryo Microscopy Facility in Edinburgh is offering a basic course in electron microscopy of biological complexes.

The introductory workshop offers hands-on experience in electron microscopy of negatively stained samples. This is a quick, analytical method, which reveals information on sample homogeneity, aggregation state as well as on protein size and shape. Many researchers who purify and analyse proteins, especially multi-protein complexes, may benefit from seeing images of their particular samples.

Participants can bring along their own samples and will get the opportunity to obtain negative stain EM images of their proteins. Please see the web site for details of samples best suited to EM.

The one day course takes place on Wednesday 31st August 2011 at King's Buildings campus, Edinburgh University. Registration is free and is open to all researchers at SULSA-affiliated departments/institutes across Scotland. For more information click here.

Hope to see you at the course,

Chris Kennaway and Bettina Boettcher
