AKTAXpress training course

In partnership with SULSA and GE Healthcare, the EPPF is offering 8 places on the full day ÅKTAXpress training course on the 1st of December, as part of the SULSA facilities day at the University of Edinburgh.

ÅKTAXpress are fully automated liquid chromatography units designed for unattended, multistep protein purification with already optimised protocols or for use with tagged protein and antibody purification methodologies.

A protocol of up to four-steps can be run and may consist of affinity chromatography (AC), desalting (DS), ion exchange chromatography (IEX) and gel filtration (GF). Desalting in-between different purification steps are also an option.

The process is fully automated and designed to eliminate the manual processing of proteins between steps and greatly enhance the productivity of your protein production. They also have a number of cleaning and column preparation functions.

These LC units operate quite differently to the other LC units, however, and require a shift in the way users think about protocols. These units are not for optimisation of methods, but allow for increased through-put and standardization of already established protocols.

They are not modular at all and only columns (a limited set of standardised columns can be used on the system) are removed or added to these units. There are also sample volume and fractionation limitations - very small or very large preps cannot be accommodated on these units.

In partnership with SULSA and GE Healthcare, the EPPF is offering 8 places on the full day course on the 1st of December, as part of the SULSA facilities day at the University of Edinburgh.

Agenda:
  • 9:30 - Intro to ÅKTAXpress applications and it's function
  • 10:15 - Methods and Column Choices
  • 11:00 - Coffee Break
  • 11:15 - Method design using the wizard
